Inverloch Investigator Reunion Rally PDF Print E-mail
alan_joanThe weekend of the 13th and 14th March 2010 could not have been ant better for motorcycling as clear skies, sunshine, a slight cool breeze and 24 degrease were ordered and arrived for the whole weekend.
After seven years break from our previous rallies it was great to catch again with so many club members and renew friendship with those we have not seen for some years. 70 motorcycles assembled at 10.00am on Saturday morning for an 11.00am start with a wide variety of makes and models. The split was about 50 - 50 with half being classics pre 1970 and half from 1970 to modern.
Touring through the lower Kongwak hills for an hour we arrived at the Pound Creek fire brigade for lunch prepared by the ladies auxiliary. This provided time for a good chin wag and a closer inspection of the bikes.
Then it was off for a good long run with good sweeping bends with a good head wind near the road at Waratah and a regrouping stop at Fish Creek. It was on this run we had our only break down for the weekend. However the backup trailer was in attendance so no great delay.
Next stop was the Stony Creek racecourse for afternoon tea and the lovely cream cakes and sponges cooked by the ladies auxiliary, country ladies cooking with fresh cream. Any members on previous Inverloch Rallies will understand. It was time to return to Inverloch and prepare for dinner at the Inverloch Community Hub.
The evening dinner was again prepared for us by the Anglican church ladies guild and we all dined well on a three course meal in pleasant surroundings.
Excellent prizes were donated by local motorcycle dealers, the Classic Club and other local traders, the selling of tickets being very brisk assisting to cover the costs of the rally. David Langridge then ran an auction of a special item. It seems that someone lost along the way a taillight and indicator assembly, not easily replaceable, unbeknown to the owner, it was found and auctioned before being handed over to a red faced owner.
David Howard prepared a computerised list of every entry for the previous 18 Inverloch Investigator Rallies with details of entrants, motorcycles and models also including details of those that completed the most number of years and total of the oldest bikes. This netted so much interest these details are being forwarded to the club via email for the club records. As a matter of interest 400 people attended the rallies over the 18 years.
Sunday morning was again fine and sunny but the Rally Director had a cramped and upset stomach and was not at all well so could not complete the ride. Very disappointing as the Sunday ride along the coast through Wonthaggi and then to Loch has great sweeping bends. The return through Bena and Kongwak is narrow with tight bends and is great motorcycling country.
Lunch was ready for us then at the Inlet Hotel, Inverloch, were thanks were said and farewells.
Joan and I would express our thanks to Allan and Val Smith for their assistance in organising the rally and also for organising the corner marshals. Our thanks to our family for giving up their weekend to corner marshal and those Club members who assisted when called upon.
To all those that attended, thanks for making the rally so successful with such a friendly atmosphere and renew our long associations.

Joan & Alan Woodbridge.
