Easy Pace Classic Bike Run

Switzerland Ranges

Sunday April 18th

At my last Sunday Club Run (The Mystery Run) we had 100% classic attendance and that was fantastic. However any members who have a need or preference to come along riding their moderns will also be most welcome. Moderns are always good for corner marshalling and those riding same will be asked at the start to close up behind the leader for initial corner marshalling. You will of course soon be riding among the classics as we progress.

Our route from Yarrambat will be: Doreen, Yan Yean and a short regroup at Whittlesea. After the longish hill climb another regroup at the toilets in Kinglake West. After

When finished thinning our faces from the tea and coffee it’s on through Flowerdale, Strath Creek, Trawool before heading up through the Whitehead Creek district for our third regroup at the Highlands pioneer rocks.

From the rocks we then proceed along the picturesque high ridge of the Switzerland Ranges through Caveat and Terip Terip (yes, its two words), then down off the ridge via Gobur to Yark (not lunching there anymore, too many damn flies) and heading along the Goulburn Hwy to Yea for lunch.

After lunch we will take a short ride out (about 8 klms) to Killingworth Reserve. It is here the pumping complex can be seen that draws water from the Goulburn River into that contoversal pipeline. Not sure if water has started flowing through it yet.

We then reverse about back to Yea from where leader and trailer will be travelling over the top of Junction Hill and back to Yarrambat via our original route from Flowerdale on. At Yea some riders may decide to return via the Melba Hwy.

Meet at: 55 Clarke Road Yarrambat (Mel: 184 A 10) 9:00 am for 9:30 start.

Plenty of room for leaving trailers etc. Fruit cake, biscuits, tea, coffee plus outside toilet available. Come as early as you like. Any late runners try and join us, maybe on one of the regroups on route shown above as we will be leaving sharp at 9:30.

Please note! As always we need a volunteer with vehicle for back up trailer duties. My trailer available – plug on trailer will suit 5 or 7 round pin connector.

No back up driver no run!
