KERRISDALE MOUNTAIN RAILWAY & MUSEUM

               RUN SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER

Meet Reg. Hammonds place: 55 Clarke Rd Yarrambat.  (Mel Ref 184 A10) 9 :00 am for a 9:30 start.

The run will replace the usual Switzerland Ranges run but is in the same general area. The venue is just north of the bridge that spans the King Parrot Creek on the Goulburn Valley Hwy at Kerrisdale.

This privately run narrow gauge railway is a hidden gem situated in the north east corner of the Tallarook Ranges and zig-zags it’s way above the King Parrot Creek valley to the ‘Summit Station’ at one of the highest points in the area with spectacular views.

The one or two engines (depending on numbers) that will transport us up the mountain are diesel powered and there is a large steam traction engine plus multiple working steam powered stationary engines in the museum and believe me – everything here is of a very high standard. This venue is fantastic and you will love it.

We are booked for the 11:00 am run and need to leave promptly at 9:30am for a relaxed run of around 90 kays and time for a cuppa before the train ride.

Entry fee is $15 but a $3 discount per head applies if our group reaches 20 or more. For those who would like a freshly baked rock cake with a cuppa before the train rides the cost is an extra $4.

We are booked for the 11: 00 am run and need to leave promptly at 9:30 am for a relaxed ride of around 90 kays and give us time to enjoy a cuppa before the train ride.

A call to me from those of you intending to come would be appreciated – it’s not for the railway but as a courtesy to the lady baking the cakes!

Our route to the venue will be Yan Yean, Whittlesea, Kinglake West, Flowerdale and Strath Creek.

When we leave the venue we will ride into Yea for lunch, a distance of only 18 kays. We will be returning via Glenburn, Flowerdale and Whittlesea. Some will want to return via Yarra Glen.

Driver with car required for back up trailer.  Trailer available from premises. (7pin round plug).
