Here we are at Chirnside Park for the 9.30 AM off. Planned is a short, around 160Km, run due expectedfeb2008.jpg hot weather, but it isn’t (hot that is).

We have nine riders itching to go while Ray Isles and his trailer are both hoping not to be called upon.

Out into the Maroondah Highway traffic is a  pain but here at Coldstream its great to take the virtually deserted Killara Road through Gruyere. But now we ‘re back on the highway to the morning stop at Warburton’s Valley Bakery. Two good things about this bakery : it employs handicapped people and has excellent coffee, so say the coffee tragics among us.

Sorry, but have to do another 7Km on the Maroondah.   Then turn here onto the   deserted (hooray) Tarrango Road.

We are through to Woori Yallock and onto Healesville. At this planned regroup stop just outside Healesville four bikes await the rest. Here they come now with Tom’s Ducati on the trailer¾a puncture within a Km of this regroup, just that close!

Right, lets now do the run across to Yarra Glen, through the town and onto the old back road (deserted!) toward Healesville.

Where are we now? Of course at the lunch stop at Healesville’s Beechworth Bakery, no not Beechworth’s Beechworth Bakery----- who devised that bit of conflict?

Nether the less, this bakery has become a magnet for motorcyclists “doing” the Yarra Ranges; its right at the end, or the beginning? of the Black Spur road.

Our short ride back to Chirnside Park has taken us through the back way passing the Lilydale Airport (used to be an aerodrome in ye olde days) with just a little more on the Maroondah. But we are avoiding the painful drag through Lilydale town.

Yeah, it’s an early finish to today’s run but not so early for those needing to go a further 20 or 30 Km in Sunday traffic to get home.

Thanks for coming, corner marking, trailer support, Peter Cullen’s rear riding and all for making enjoyable company.
