Sunday was a nice morning as the group of riders slowly grew at the Krooze Café , then it finally was time to head of . Les Snibson was our tour leader for the day as we left Mount Helen towards the Bunninyong direction then around the edge of the Mount to Yendon and onto Mt Egerton. All was going well along the Gordon / Merideth Rd until we turned at a road going off to the right, Les stopped for a regroup a couple of hundred yards down the road, when I came along the corner marker had left his post and joined the regroup and the tail end rider somehow had found his way into the middle of the riders.
Having realized that there was two riders missing, and not amused about the situation I told Les to keep the group moving and that I would find them, as I got back on to the main road the missing bikes (a Yamaha and a Triumph T150 Trident) went past as a great rate of knots naturally trying to catch the group, so doing a quick U’e it took about five miles to catch them.
We had a council meeting on the road side and decided to just drop onto to Western Highway and meet the others at the lunch destination.
Having had similar experiences with corner marshalls in the past it is imperative to never leave the corner no matter how long you have to wait.
Anyway as we arrived at Flannigan’s Hotel the Geelong riders were just getting there and it wasn’t long until we tucked into a very good meal with a drink or two and a pleasant chat.
Once again it was good to see some classics out for the day, as well we had a lady rider, Odette Mensch on her sporty Suzuki, great to see.
Another enjoyable day was had by all.
