July 3rd Ride to Lismore.
With the weather being a little overcast and cold, it was very good to see the number of riders that came along and made the Warrnambool, Ballarat and Geelong combined ride day a success.
As we left our regular haunt, the Krooze café and headed south from Ballarat down through Napoleons and onto Rokewood, I was just about to cross the Hamilton highway, when looking to my left for traffic, in the distance I spotted motorcycles parked outside the general store. I asked the rest of our group to wait a moment while I went up and investigated, my thought proved correct, it was the Geelong riders having their usual coffee break.
With a bit of a hurry up we were on our way, heading south once more to Cressy from there turning right and it is only a stone’s throw to Lismore. On our arrival the Warrnambool riders had only just got there, I believe they had travelled a fair distance including Timboon and Camperdown in their ride.
Whilst everybody removed the layers of clobber they had on in order to keep warm, the sun that was breaking through the clouds was certainly take advantage of. Once the “undressing” was finished and the usual how ya goin great to see ya’ finished, it was inside to the open fire for a meal, a drink and a good old chat. By 1.30 everybody was on their bikes and on their way home after another enjoyable time together.
It was very pleasing to see Steven Smith on his red plate Gold Wing from Hoppers Crossing, Steve is a relatively new member to the club and it is always good to see new people turning up on rides, especially from down Melbourne direction.
