G'day Group,
Welcome to the August AMC Group Enews. I have plenty of info to pass on some new some old and some you probably already know.
  • First and to the AJSMOC Aust Inc the most important. The 27th annual Downunder Jampot Rally is only a few weeks away. The Swanhill venue, 3rd, 4th & 6th November is a great location for the riders and for family members to visit. The club needs your support so please contact the Rally Director Peter Ninnis tel 03 5032 0035 and get your entry in. Do not forget the clubs website www.jampotdownunder.com
  • For the Melbourne group members and anyone else who is interested we are again this year supporting the Frank Harrison Preamble which is a 2 day ride around the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. We normally complete the Sunday ride only, we had 19 members front up last year for then Sunday ride. The Sunday lunch will once again at the fabulous property of David & Pru Brigg's. See details attached.
  • Tasmania members have formed their own social group, I will see if I can obtain one of the guys to publish their email address. John Finglas in Brisbane is keen to hear from anyone who wishes to join his social AMC Group tel 07 3269 7643.
  • The UK AJS&Matchless Owners Club have establish an on line spares service. It worth visiting their web site www.jampot.com Whilst at this time sales are restricted to members only, it is worth your time to have a look, enter the site and click on the Kettering icon you can see the club spares list shown by type complete with part number and price.  
  • The annual South Australia Birdwood motorcycle only swop meet which co-insides with the Bay to Birdwood Historic Vehicle run will not be held at the Birdwood Showgrounds this year. The swop meet will be held on October 7th at Balhannah, hope to see you there.
  • The Matchless name. The two Greek Cypriot gentlemen who purchased the Matchless name have announced plans to manufacture Matchless m/c's in the future. See attached note.

  • The Wagga Wagga branch of the Griffith Classic Motorcycle Club is hosting the clubs Eastenders Ride Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October 2007. This ride takes in the high country so plenty of good fun. For info contact Anita Laidlay 02 6925 3097.
  • Hot news, the AJSMOC are planning to organise a 2 day weekend ride from the Lake Hume resort in February 2008. More about this when info available.
  • George Clarke will be running the AJSMOC Victorian Labour Day long weekend 26th Alpine Ride. Venue Harrietville on the second weekend in March. More info when available.

  • Alas the Old Corner Garage is no more. John Bennett has sold the building and is now working from next door specialising in the manufacture of petrol tanks. He can be contacted on his old telephone number 03 5786 5198.
  • Melbourne group members Dennis & Norman will be organising a Christmas - New Year holiday period ride in the North West suburbs, more about this later in the year.
  • The Matchless & AJS Enthusiasts Group of Australia and the AJS&MOC (Aust) Inc have produced a nine page list of use full contacts and service providers. Should anyone want a copy of this please email me. The two clubs have  produced a Post War Library CD of AMC parts books, manuals and technical information. The CD is available to members of the clubs only. Membership enquires for AJSMOC to Debbie Green 03 5367 1799. For the Enthusiasts Group to Bill Petrie 03 9306 3356.
  • For Pre War owners Barry Hartnell of the Vintage Motorcycle Swop Shop has had a batch of leather tool box's complete with the tin frame made. Tel 03 5722 1457.
  • Finally the next meeting of the Melbourne Enthusiast Group members is Wednesday 5th September at the Oakleigh Bowling Club 87 - 93 Drumond St Oakleigh. Visitors are most welcome.
