Presidents Report October
2007.
Phillip McArdle had a slide show at the
last meeting on his travels around Italy and
France. If you haven’t seen a gorge 2 km deep before and roads not wide
enough for a goat you wouldn’t believe it. Some unusual outfit combinations and
some very narrow roads without guard rails are on these gorges. Thanks Phillip
and Kaye. If you have something that we could show on the clubs projector like
a run or rally or restoration give me a call and we will see if we can get it
on.
Don’t forget the High Country Muster coming
up in October. Ray Harrison and Ernie have mapped out a good run and the usual
format of a Saturday BBQ at Tolmie. The morning tea stop will be at Yarck so it
can be a good ½ or 1 day run to include the BBQ on the Saturday if you are not
attending the Rally for the whole week end.
The Peninsular Preamble was a great success
and the weather was on our side for a change. Thanks to Dennis and Barbara for
another rally well done. The report is in this Sprocket.
The cover for next years Sprocket has been
selected as Fred Davenports Tiger Cub. Fred won the best restoration at the
Picnic day and it is a very nice original restoration.
PSM’s have come up for a discussion with
the number of people attending slowly falling and catering requirements being
hard to predict. Some suggestions have been that we mix and match a bit
with a couple of traditional ones but
also runs where we nominate an eating spot be it a Pub or Café and people meet
there. What are your thoughts.
The expo is coming up and we are on the
inside this has pluses and minuses as people who want to drop in on the stand
will have to pay to get in. Knowing how frugal some of you are you may not get
to see our stand. Ray and Jack have co-ordinated this years stand again and the
response of people to man the stand over the 3 days has been excellent. By the
Time that you read this it will have come and gone.
Graham is still looking for contributions
to the web site in the way of members bikes, stories, restorations or classic
related articles. Remember that we cannot just lift an article from a magazine
, we need to gain permission to publish. Also if you have a good classic
related link or humorous contribution please sent it to Graham and share it
with others on the site. The for sale section is also a bit light on as well.
Its going to be a busy end to the year
again so we hope to see you on some of our rides rallies and events.
See you on the road.
