The Colac Rally was a casual weekend, Malcom and Christine always seem to find new places of interest to take us to , it was very pleasing to see the roll up of Warrnambool members this year, by the way someone said to me the scones tasted good , wish I had have had some!.
Ed Sleightholm gave us another very interesting and enjoyable midweek ride around the Peninsula area, personally it was an exceptional days riding through that area as it is unfamiliar territory and I know just by listening to the comments of others , all those who participated certainly enjoyed the day.
The Baw Baw run organized by Colin Sullivan was another good event, again it was the first time I have participated on this ride and it is certainly a riders ride when you get up into mountains, two club members Bob Allan and Wally Walsh had their wives as pillion passengers and I noticed their wings were clipped a little, but all in all another great day out.
Our PSL at Elaine Watson’s residence in Maldon , combined with the Club ride day was very well attended by our members as you will read further on in the sprocket. The weather was perfect for the ride and Elaine certainly put a lot of effort into it with an excellent spread of nibbles and salads etc, it was a relaxing and enjoyable social afternoon.
On to a matter of great importance to members who have a motorcycle on red plates through the Classic Club . The new legislation that has come in regarding the 45/90 day club permit scheme (CPS ) states that you must be a financial club member at all times. You will receive your club membership renewal by mail in May, and have until the AGM on Wednesday 20th July 2011 to be a financial member. Should you fail to renew your membership by that date, we (the club) have fourteen (14) days in which to notify Vic roads that you are no longer a financial member along with your CPS plate number and this will be immediately cancelled by Vic Roads.
Some may think that we, the club, are becoming heavy-handed but there is no alternative. The club has signed an agreement with Vic Roads and in order to remain on the Vic Roads club approved CPS scheme we must abide by all the new legislation.
In closing, it is your responsibility to make sure you are a financial member by the due date especially if you are participating in the CPS . Should we have the misfortune of having to notify Vic Roads that someone has become unfinancial, you would have to reapply for membership and obtain a roadworthy certificate for the motorcycle in order go on our CPS again.
