Presidents Report - June 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Further to my report last month the Flowerdale Bushfire appeal has been run. Phillip White the organizer of the event rang me on Monday evening. He asked me to pass on his sincere thanks to the Classic Club for their financial contribution on the day. He was delighted with the response. The event raised over $7000.00. A great effort on his part. You will notice a letter in this issue from the Premier regarding the Ride for The Hills Bushfire Relief, which our Club made a contribution.

We have a few Rallies coming up and I commend them to you. There is a new Ballarat Rally in September and you will find details in this issue. I thank Burger Drake and his crew fromtBallarat for their effort in starting this new Rally. We all remember the many Winter Wandersrin Ballarat over the years. My Frostbite is just about better.

Dennis Wright informs me that there will not be a Frank Harrison Memorial Run This year. This event has been very well run by Dennis and Barbara Harrison for the last 10 years and we look forward to its return in the future. Thanks Dennis and Barbara and all who helped over the years. Barbera was very chuffed to tell me that last week she rode her bike for the first time un two years. Great news Bar but remember to keep the speed down because theor out their waiting for us.

Talking of all things Rally Alan Woodridge has agreed to run a Back ti Inverloch Rally on the 13.14th March 2010. This is great news for the 20 Previous Rallies in Inverloch were very well supported and great fun. Thanks Allan.

Last meeting we had an interesting talk on Thermal Underwear by Anna. I think we should support people like this who are making their goods here. It is a real family affair and deserve to do well. For those go you who were not at the meeting  we have enclosed their details in this issue. In my opinion their prices are very reasonable.

I have been approached by several members regarding a Ride Day at Broardford. We will be pursuing this and we hope to have  details in the next Sprocket.

To finish up I remind Members that the Nomination Form for next Year is in the Sprocket again. There are several people who will be retiring from their positions and they need to be filled. Please don't think that these positions are all spoken for. I sincerely request you give serious thought to joining the Committee. It is an opportunity to work with a great group of dedicated people for the benefit of the Club. Give it some thought and have a chat to Paul Caine when you have time.

Ride Safely,

David Langridge.
