This month
I want to take the opportunity to pay special thanks to two members of the Club
who have made an enormous contribution to the running of our Club. The first is
to Graeme Randall who is stepping down as Treasurer after nearly 25 years in
the job. This could be a record of service for any Club Treasurer in any Club.
Graeme
Joined the Club in April 1976 at the second meeting and has been actively
involved ever since.
He has
been heavily involved in several organizing Committees for the Anniversary
rallies and has been one of those Members who will always help out and never
says no when asked to do a job.
As members
will know Graeme is a BMW man through and through and rides everywhere.
He has
also represented the Club on the Deepdene Park Committee for many years.
He is very
proud of the fact that he negotiated with our Bank to not charge fees on the
Club Account. I wish he could do that with my Bank for me.
Graeme we
all wish you well in the future and you can now go to the meetings and relax
with your fellow Members.
Our
new Treasurer is Joel Dunn and we sincerely thank him for taking on
the job.
The other
Member who has done a great job over many years is Ian Kennedy from Maffra.
Ian’s involvement over the years
Has been
first class and he has always done any thing he has been asked to do with
vigour and enthusiasm and has flown the flag of the Club in Gippsland with
great effect over the years.
Ian has
run the Maffra Rally for the past six years with great success and all those
members who went this year had a great time and we look forward to the 2010
Rally.
I noticed
that out of the 60 odd entries this year there were 37 Classic Bikes ranging
back to 1924.To me one of the stars of the show was the 1973 MV Augusta, which
looked magnificent and sounded even better.
Well done
Ian for everything you have done for us over the years and we must not forget
the great contribution that Jan has also made. Thanks Jan and keep up the Anzac
tradition.
