Presidents Report - AGM 2008 |

The past 12 Months have been eventful but also very sad for the Classic Motorcycle Club of Victoria. The passing of our President John Stock in January cast a blanket over the club for a while. I had great respect and friendship for John and in stepping back as a caretaker President I have tried to carry out these duties in a manner befitting to Stocky’s approval.
Our Country members have kept most of our rallies ongoing and are to be commended for their continued support and enthusiasm, while our club day rides have also been successful. With attendance being generally down from previous years it will be necessary for the club to look at its approach to next years events.
The club display at the Melbourne Motorcycle Expo has become a premier event to present our club’s message to the public and Motorcycle fraternity. Coupled also to the Little River TT Reunion both are thanks to Jack Youdan’s efforts and organizational skills.
Over the past year our finances have taken a battering with production cost’s of Sprocket and other general expenses rising dramatically. Our income has been down on previous years and necessitated a rise in membership fees. Our Editor has done an excellent job in maintaining the high standard of our magazine our main link to the membership. Membership numbers have remained fairly constant. Our club meetings are well attended and I’m sure a lot of this is due to the sumptuous suppers put on by Rose and her group of loyal helpers, while not forgetting our Social Secretary Barbara Harrison who inspite of ill health has continued to organize our PSL’s. Thanks to the Emmett family for opening up their homes for these occasions. All clubs have workers in the background and ours is no exception with the Committee and committed members ensuring the continued smooth running of the club’s business. Thank you one and all.
