Morning tea/coffee break at Neerim South was at Wilma’s Piglets café which coped well with our sudden invasion. We sat outside and chatted as the sun started to break through the cloud cover.
Soon it was time to go and Ed led us on the best part of the ride, a well chosen route to Willow Grove, Icy Creek, Noojee and Powelltown through dense eucalypt forest and over ridges with views of green valleys and hundreds of black and white cows. Some serious bend-swinging was necessary, and care had to be taken because the recent storms had strewn tree debris on the road in some places. We enjoyed this excellent motorcycling country and as a bonus the rain didn’t eventuate.
Deserving a rest we rode into Woori Yallock for lunch after which we headed towards Melbourne and home for most of us – a ride from the start of about 220 km returning us mid-afternoon and in time to miss the worst of the commuter traffic.
